App Permissions Quick Check
A quick guide to reviewing and managing permissions for the apps on your phone.
The Principle of Least Privilege
On both iPhone and Android, you can go into your settings to see a list of all your apps and what they have permission to access (e.g., location, camera, microphone, contacts).
Does that game or shopping app really need to know your location 'Always'? For most apps, 'While Using the App' is a safer choice. If an app doesn't need your location to function, set it to 'Never'.
Only give microphone and camera access to apps that you trust and that need it for their core function (like Instagram or a video chat app). Be wary of apps that ask for this access unexpectedly.
Be mindful of which apps you allow to access your contacts, photos, or files. This is sensitive information that you should only share with trusted applications.
